The cornerstone of good social media…

The cornerstone of good social media is close-knit communities. Literally nothing else sustains in the lon run. Facebook has groups, Twitter has communities of authors, techies, and marketers, Mastodon has communities of the FOSS folks.

Nostr is a community of freedom techies and Bitcoiners. Instagram and TikTok have influencers and their followers.

There has to be some value on offer for people to stay on a platform.

This is where I think BlueSky and Threads falter. BlueSky doesn't even have hashtags and Threads is FAR too general and focuses on memes and stuff.

There has to be critical mass of communities for a media platform to work

Nostr is beautiful because it is a natural community
